School Policy

DROP OFF / PICK UP

  • Please make sure that your child is on time for class as tardiness affects the overall structure of the class.

  • Drop off 10 minutes prior to their class and pick them up no more than 10 minutes after. We are not responsible for students left unsupervised in our lobby.

DRESS CODE

  • Students may wear either full uniform or uniform pants with Spicar’s karate t-shirt.

  • NO REGULAR T-SHIRTS ARE ALLOWED.

  • If the t-shirt is more than 6 months old, you really can’t wash the stink out of it. Sorry, can’t do it. When they come out of the laundry, sure they smell fine. Fabric softener is great that way. But the second you start to sweat in them, HOLY MOLY do you stink! The only thing those t-shirts are good for is cleaning car parts. So get a new one from the school’s store!

ADDRESSING INSTRUCTORS AND STAFF

  • To teach students leadership skill of respect and courtesy all instructors and staff members are to be addressed by Mr., Mrs. or Miss and their LAST NAME.

SPARRING GEAR + GEAR BAG

  • YOU MUST PUT YOUR FULL NAME ON EACH GEAR PIECE AND THE BAG (even elbow pads and mouthpiece case). USE A PERMANENT SHARPIE AND TYPE CLEARLY.

  • To clean your gear simply wipe it with disinfecting wipes after use. You may also wash it in the shower. It’s best to air dry your gear.

  • All Yellow Belts and above should have their elbow pads and groin cup holder machine washed and dried at least once a week to prevent bacteria growth!

PERSONAL HYGIENE

Hair policy:

  • Students' hair should always be pulled back and out of the eyes with a hair tie JUST LIKE GYMNASTS do.

Fingernails / Toenails:

  • Keep nails short and trim them at least 1x every 2 weeks. We have too many bleeding toes because of long toenails being broken when kicking.

Jewelry / Fitness trackers:

  • Do not wear dangling or hoop earrings. Also, do not wear any necklaces. They can cause serious injury to you or your partner. Fitness trackers are only permitted in Teen/Adult classes and must fit snugly.

Illness:

  • Please keep your children home for evidence of a communicable disease, vomiting, diarrhea, unexplained rashes or a temperature of 100.4 or more for a full 24 hours. If in doubt, keep them home.

Body and Foot odor:

  • All Teens and Adults should apply antiperspirant with deodorant before class for these reasons - you workout, your sweat, you STINK!

  • If you have issues with foot odor there are many over the counter medicines that will help. You should also wash your feet before coming to class.

  • Remember, nobody wants to partner up with a smelly person.

SHOES + CROCS / SANDALS + BARE FEET

  • SHOES LOOK THE SAME. PUT YOURS IN YOUR GEAR BAG SO NO ONE TAKES YOUR SHOES.

  • If you walk barefoot or wear flip flops all day be sure to wash your feet before you come to class.

  • Nobody wants to partner up with a messy partner.
